However, in the freezing months of January and february, I typically wear wool dress pants to Mass. If we attend Saturday services, which are very casual at our Parish, I will sometimes even wear chinos. I, too, have always dressed up for church (only started with dress pants in last 5 or so years and only half the time), but many wear jeans these days. Drives me crazy. My minis will not wear jeans as long as I buy the clothes. However, I do agree that God wants us for our hearts, not our wardrobe. Guess it's a respect thing with me. When pregnant, it no longer is about you but what is best for your baby, and if that means warm legs for mom, then wear pants.
Secondly, God doesn't care what you're wearing in church. He just cares that you're there and have an open heart.
Finally, as a WI girl, I'd have to go with any temp lower than the 20s or windchills below the 20s probably calls for dress pants (hididng the nylons, tights or long underwear). Growing up, my mom made us dress nicely for church. But I've outgrown that (see #2). Now it's nice pants if I'm coming from work and jeans if I'm not. Most women at my church wear pants when it's cold. If you want to still wear dresses and skirts if the cold, invest in a long dress coat and cute warm boots.Caseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16454114357977846319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786999190166559345.post-23406754439436752562010-01-05T08:47:48.432-06:002010-01-05T08:47:48.432-06:00I too have the "wear your best" to churc...I too have the "wear your best" to church dress code handed down from Mom, Grandma, Granny....However, in MI, I do wear dress pants in winter w/a blazer or dressed up cardigan. It is always in good taste for a woman or girl to wear a dress to church. I suppose it depends on the church and religion, but it really is, I think, up to you. If you would feel completely at ease wearing dress slacks then do it. In my church, however, I have NEVER seen a woman wearing pants, nice or otherwise. I say buy some nice cotton knit or wool blend tights, or wear a pair of inconspicuous leggings under a longer skirt or dress that wont show. Let me also say that the further along you get being cold is not an issue. At least for me it wasn't. I was always running on the warmer side when I was pregnant, so a nice cool breeze was always appreciated. I do think 13 degrees might be pushing that though.Susan Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17387510304089583710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2786999190166559345.post-38366867332439386932010-01-04T21:23:45.929-06:002010-01-04T21:23:45.929-06:00I recently purchased some thicker tights and they ...I recently purchased some thicker tights and they are a Godsend (hehe, pun intended).
