Ladies, you all were so wonderful with recommending some of your baby products and I definitely appreciate all of your insight. Now onto something that I can shop for that is "necessary" for the baby, but also something for me!! I have looked at a few diaper bags and have no idea what I want except for a place for my cell phone, wallet, and lipstick. I'm truly not even sure what goes in a diaper bag besides diapers and wipes! I would think that you would need a burp cloth, an extra outfit, a pacifier, and then once they get older a few bibs and maybe one of those plastic placemats. So, why the heck are they sooo big? Obviously I must be missing a LOT, so fill me in on your favorite bag and what you keep in yours on a daily basis. Also, are the little pacifier pods a good idea?
*The one above is the Skip Hop Studio Tote, and I really like the look of it.
*I would easily carry something super bright and fun, but I don't want one that is all pink or all blue.
*I'd like it to look more "grown-up" than babyish. I do have to carry this for awhile.
*Shockingly, I don't want it monogrammed.
Thanks, ladies!!
I just bought a pooh bear on from walmart but I did make sure it had a long strap so it could easily hang right over the handle of the stroller!
ReplyDeleteI would recomment getting a Mommy Hook - it has been a lifesaver for me!
These days I carry a Vineyard Vines tote, but when Little Miss M was little I carried the Vera Bradley diaper bag in Microfiber black. I wanted a bag that was versatile and would go with everything. I really loved that bag.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Why are they so big? I wondered the same thing when looking for one with my first. I went much smaller with my second child. You need to be able to carry a plastic changing pad though to put down on those icky restaurant changing tables in the restrooms. Good luck in your search.
ReplyDeleteI hate the bags that scream diaper bag! THe ones that have characters on them, are either all pink or all blue... and the ones that are huge. Ugh. I have a black old school Kate Spade bag. It is just big enough to hold all of the necessities -- diapers, wipes, diaper cream, a bottle or 2, burp cloth, travel formula container and travel snack container, a small toy or 2 AND can hold my wallet, lip gloss and phone. I know it sounds like a lot of stuff, but I think I carry around only the bare minimum. Plus, I like to be able to stash my stuff in it if need be. I really like the one you posted.
ReplyDeleteI used a Kate Spade tote--NOT the diaper version. You will only want a diaper bag for a few months then it's the last thing in the world you will want to be seen with. I promise you. After a few months you will not need to pack like it's "Grapes of Wrath" and leave the house like a normal person again. After a few months I switched to a Louis Vuitton tote

Buh-bye diaper bag!!
Pacifer pods are grooooss. Some kids don't even like pacifiers- If yours does, at first if it falls you will sterilize it. After a while you will wipe it. Then you will stick it in your own mouth to clean it off-- then, I'm not kidding--eventually you will just pick it up give it back to your child. Parenthood is really funny. You are going to love it. :)
