Christmas presents for the babe

This activity cube is SYT's Christmas present from B and I.  It has gotten rave reviews online, and I've seen some that are very similar elsewhere (Orvis and one of the art museum mags) for significantly more (like upwards of $150!).  It's a perfect height for him to pull up on as he learns to stand, and the twirly alphabet on the side will keep him entertained for awhile.  I cannot wait to give it to him on Christmas!

My dilemma?  How am I going to wrap the darn thing with those wires on the top???  Just a huge gift bag?  I was kind of hoping for wrapping paper so that he could actually tear into it, though a gift bag may be better as all the wrapping paper is going to end up in his mouth.  Hmmmm.....any suggestions?

What are you getting your under 1 year old for Christmas?

  1. I would just wrap the sides! I am sure that he won't notice that the top is sticking out since he appears to be a bit short:-)

  2. I would get really cheap paper and just drape it over it and stick so tape on it so it stays down and then he can rip it!!! So fun!!!

  3. Our 8 1/2 month daughter received a very similar cube from her Great Aunt last month! I think she got it at some children's learning store. Our daughter LOVES it! She also uses it to pull herself up on but just be careful because sometimes she will pull it down with her! We have already gotten a couple of bumps. :/ Great toy though!! :):):)

  4. Just do the best you can with wrapping paper. Who cares if it's messy...SYT doesn't!

  5. What a fun gift for a little guy (or gal)! I think a wrapping job with cheap dollar store paper (which will tear easily) is the best bet...even if it's sort of hodge-podge, it will be cute to see him tearing at it!

  6. My little niece got this gift when she was 1 and LOVED it!! I believe grandma and grandpa put it in a large bag and a giant bow :) He'll love it.

For my new little niece and nephew, I'll be getting them "my first Christmas" items. So I guess that's more for mom and dad :) Happy shopping!

  7. We received that for L&E for their b-day. I'm pretty sure the whole thing came in a box that is pretty wrapable. I could be wrong though.

  8. I recommend putting it in a big cardboard box... our toddler LOVED (and still does) big old boxes as a baby - hours of fun for her!
