La Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell

I came away from our trip with two favorite sites that I would recommend to everyone. One was La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Originally in looking into BCN and learning about Antonin Gaudi, I thought I would not like or appreciate the church he designed and started creating. I am nothing if not traditional, and I thought his modernistic style would just not fit with what I expected of a church. How wrong I was. While I really didn't love his apartment buildings in L'Exiemple, LSF and Parc Guell were absolutely amazing. My pictures will in no way justify this building or the extreme amount of artistry, time, chiseling, or work that has gone into this building. I would love to go back once they are holding services there as the spirit of the building is amazing now and will be even more so once completed. With the amazing light in the church, you can just feel God's presence coming through. Gaudi was hugely religious, and his work is a true testament to faith.

In the next two pics you can see how lifelike the stone carvings are.
We are pretty sure this is St. George

The windows are made of clear glass to "celebrate the natural light of God". You can see how amazing the light will be in looking at the pictures of the woman at work. Her hair just glows!

I have a lot more photos of LSF, but I'll move on for your sakes!! After we were finished with the tour, we took the train to Parc Guell, one of Gaudi's other works in the city. It's a perfect place for families, children, students, and anyone who just needs a jolt of adorable color combinations and funky architecture.
